£80,000 Compensation Awarded for Medical Negligence in Hospital

The man had suffered bilateral wrist fractures and attended his local A&E department where the fractures were splinted.  However he returned the next day complaining of pain and functional difficulties.  Two days later a decision was made to treat the fracture by manipulation.  Despite numerous x-rays the hospital had failed to identify the need for surgical intervention.  As a result of this failure he suffered from prolonged pain, suffering and loss of amenity with increased risk of degenerative disease and the likelihood of arthritis in later life.  All of which meant that he was required to undergo numerous operations in hospital.
