Elderly lady falls at supermarket

In May 2005, whilst shopping at a supermarket an 83-year-old lady fell after tripping on uneven paving. She broke her thigh bone and required a metal implant in her leg.

She brought a claim against the supermarket, alleging that they had been negligent for not repairing the paving stones. She was successful.

The supermarket admitted liability for the accident and the lady was awarded £15,000 in compensation for her injury.
