The four-mile stretch of the A675 between Higher Walton and junction 3 of the M65 was the worst in the country, according to a recent survey. Whilst the Department of transport continue to do their best to improve the safety of Britains roads there are still an alarming rate of injuries. Statistics show that 8 people die on British roads every day. In 2007 (the latest year for which statistics are available) 2,946 people were killed on Britain's roads. That's the equivalent of passenger plane going down every 2-3 weeks. For every death, ten times as many people suffer serious injury. A further 27,774 people were seriously injured in road crashes in 2007. Brake, the Road Safety Campaigners, are keen to get the message across that a large proportion of these statistics related to young drivers aged between 17 -25. They have a series of volunteers working across the country delivering the 2young2die message to young drivers.
